La tunica dai molti colori
The coat of many colors
English translation
Jacob, also called Israel, lived in Canaan, the land where his father had lived. The story of his family continued with Joseph, who at seventeen tended the flock with his brothers, including the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, Jacob’s wives. Joseph reported bad things about them to his father.
English translation
Israel loved Joseph more than his other sons because he had been born to him in his old age, and he made him a many-colored robe. His brothers noticed this favoritism. Their hatred was so strong that they could not even speak a friendly word to him.
