Scene 1 · Intermediate

Gott formt Adam aus Staub

God forms Adam from dust

English translation

This is the story of how heaven and earth came into being. When God made the earth and the heavens, no plants or herbs had yet grown in the fields. For God had not yet made it rain, and there was no one who could work the soil.

English translation

However, mist rose from the earth and made the entire surface of the ground damp.

English translation

God formed a man from the dust of the ground: Adam. He breathed the breath of life into his nostrils. Thus the man came to life.
