Scene 1 · Beginner

The emperor loves new clothes

English translation

Many years ago, there lived an emperor who loved new clothes. He spent all his money so that he would always be well dressed. He cared neither for his soldiers nor for the theater. All he liked was to ride out in his carriage and show off his new clothes.

English translation

He had a different coat for every hour of the day. He spent a great deal of time in his dressing room.
