Scene 1 · Intermediate

Palatul de porțelan

The porcelain palace

English translation

This story took place in China, many, many years ago. The emperor and everyone at his court were Chinese. It is good to hear what happened then, before the story is forgotten.

English translation

The emperor’s palace was the most beautiful in the world. Built entirely of porcelain, it was very precious, but so fragile that you had to touch it very carefully. Unusual flowers grew in the garden, with silver bells hanging from them. When the bells rang, passersby turned to look at the flowers and admire them. Everything in the imperial garden was extraordinary.

English translation

It stretched so far that even the gardener did not know where it ended.
