Scene 1 · Beginner
Long ago, when wishes still came true, there lived a king. All his daughters were beautiful, but the youngest was the most beautiful of all. Near the castle was a large, dark forest. There, beneath an old linden tree, was a well.
On hot days, the princess went to the well because it was cool there. When she was bored, she played with a golden ball, throwing it into the air and catching it. It was her favorite toy.
