The donkey leaves for Bremen

I många år hade en åsna burit tunga säckar med spannmål till kvarnen. Han hade arbetat utan att tröttna, men nu räckte krafterna inte längre till som förr. Hans ägare började fundera på hur han skulle slippa betala för åsnans mat när åsnan inte längre orkade göra lika mycket nytta. Åsnan anade att han var i fara och rymde.

For many years, a donkey had carried heavy sacks of grain to the mill. He had worked without tiring, but now he no longer had the strength he once had. His owner began to wonder how he could avoid paying for the donkey's food when the donkey was no longer strong enough to be as useful. The donkey sensed he was in danger and ran away.

As he took the road to Bremen, he thought, “I’m sure I can become a town musician there.”
