A szamár Brémába indul

The donkey leaves for Bremen

English translation

A man had a donkey that for many years carried sacks full of grain to the mill without tiring. But with time, its strength dwindled, and it found the work harder and harder. Its owner wondered how he could get rid of it so he wouldn’t have to keep feeding it.

Hungarian

A szamár megérezte a veszélyt, ezért megszökött, és elindult a Brémába vezető úton. „Ott biztosan lehetek városi muzsikus” – gondolta.

English translation

The donkey sensed the danger, so it ran away and set off along the road to Bremen. “I’m sure I can become a town musician there,” it thought.
