Le château du roi de la mer
The Sea King's castle
English translation
Very far out to sea, the water is as blue as a cornflower and as clear as crystal. The ocean there reaches a depth no cable could measure. Even if many church steeples were stacked on top of one another, they would not reach the surface. It is in these depths that the king of the sea and his people live.
English translation
The seabed is no desert of sand: strange flowers and plants with supple stems sway at the slightest movement of the water. Fish slip between their branches like birds among the trees. In the deepest part stands the royal castle, with coral walls and tall windows of transparent amber.
English translation
The shells on its roof open and close as the currents pass. Each shell holds a pearl beautiful enough to adorn a queen’s crown.
