The fox's shallow dish
English translation
The Fox and the Stork used to visit each other and seemed to be good friends. One day, the Fox invited the Stork to eat with her. As a joke, she gave him only a little soup in a very shallow dish.
English translation
The Fox lapped up the soup and had no trouble eating it. But the Stork had a long beak. He could dip only the tip of his beak into the soup and couldn’t eat. So he went hungry.
English translation
“I’m sorry you don’t like the soup,” said the Fox.
English translation
“Don’t apologize,” replied the Stork. “Come and eat with me soon, too.”
English translation
So they agreed on a day for the Fox to visit the Stork’s home.
