A warning at the river
God told Moses to meet Pharaoh by the river in the morning. Moses had to take the staff, the long stick that had turned into a snake. He had to give Pharaoh this message: “The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says, ‘Let my people go, so they can serve me in the wilderness.’”
God would turn the river water into blood to show Pharaoh who he was. The fish would die, and the water would smell so bad that the Egyptians would not want to drink it. Aaron had to hold his staff over all the waters of Egypt. Even water in wooden and stone containers would become blood.
