Scene 1 · Beginner
The wicked magician's mirror
English translation
Once upon a time, a very wicked magician made a strange mirror. In it, good and beautiful things looked small and unimportant. Ugly things, however, looked much bigger and worse.
English translation
Even the most beautiful people looked so different that their friends could not recognize them. A small freckle seemed to cover the whole face. The magician laughed, pleased with it all.
English translation
His pupils talked about the mirror everywhere. They said it showed the world as it really was.
