A gonosz varázsló tükre

The wicked magician's mirror

Hungarian

Figyeljetek, most kezdődik a mesénk! Mire a végére érünk, remélhetőleg többet tudunk majd, mint most. Élt egyszer egy rendkívül gonosz varázsló, aki különös tükröt készített. Ebben a tükörben minden jó és szép szinte eltűnt, a csúnya és haszontalan dolgok viszont tízszer rosszabbnak látszottak a valóságnál.

English translation

Listen, our story is beginning now! By the time we reach the end, we will hopefully know more than we do now. Once there lived an extremely wicked wizard who made a strange mirror. In this mirror, everything good and beautiful almost disappeared, while ugly and useless things looked ten times worse than they really were.

Hungarian

A varázsló elégedetten nevetgélt: roppant mulatságosnak találta a találmányát.

English translation

Beautiful landscapes looked like cooked spinach, and the faces of the loveliest people were so distorted that even their friends would not have recognized them. A single freckle covered an entire face, and a good thought appeared in the mirror as a wrinkle. The wizard chuckled with satisfaction: he found his invention extremely amusing.

Hungarian

Tanítványai messze földön terjesztették a tükör hírét. Azt állították, hogy segítségével végre mindenki olyannak láthatja a világot és az embereket, amilyenek valójában.

English translation

His pupils spread the word about the mirror far and wide. They claimed it would finally let everyone see the world and its people as they really were.
