Prinsessen ved brønnen
The princess by the well
English translation
Long ago, when wishes could still come true, there lived a king with several beautiful daughters. The youngest was so beautiful that even the sun, which had seen so much, marveled every time it shone on her face.
English translation
Near the castle lay a large, dark forest. There, under an old linden tree, was a well. On hot days the princess would sit by the cool well. When she got bored, she would toss her golden ball high into the air and catch it as it came down. It was her favorite of all her toys.
