Há muitos anos, vivia um imperador que se preocupava tanto com roupas novas que gastava todo o seu dinheiro nelas. Sua maior ambição era estar sempre bem-vestido. Não dava atenção aos soldados nem se interessava pelo teatro. O que ele realmente gostava de fazer era sair de carruagem para exibir um traje novo.
English translation
Many years ago, there lived an emperor who cared so much about new clothes that he spent all his money on them. His greatest ambition was always to be well dressed. He paid no attention to the soldiers and took no interest in the theater. What he really liked to do was ride out in his carriage to show off a new outfit.

Tinha um casaco para cada hora do dia. Quando alguém procurava um rei, era comum ouvir: “Ele está em seu gabinete”. Mas, no caso daquele imperador, a resposta era outra: “Ele está em seu quarto de vestir”.
English translation
He had a coat for every hour of the day. When someone went looking for a king, it was common to hear, “He’s in his study.” But in that emperor’s case, the answer was different: “He’s in his dressing room.”
