Scene 1 · Beginner

En and venter i sin rede

A duck waiting on her nest

English translation

It was summer in the countryside. The sun shone on an old farm by a deep river. Between the farm and the river grew plants with leaves so big that a child could stand underneath them.

English translation

Beneath the big leaves, a duck sat on her nest. She was waiting for her ducklings to hatch. She was tired of waiting, and the other ducks rarely came to visit. They preferred to swim in the river.
