Scene 1 · Beginner

En and venter i reiret sitt

A duck waiting on her nest

English translation

It was summer in the countryside. A deep river flowed past an old farmhouse. Between the house and the river grew plants with large green leaves. Under one of the leaves, a duck was sitting on her nest. She was waiting for her young to hatch. It was taking a long time, and she was getting tired of waiting.

English translation

The other ducks would rather swim in the river than come to visit.
