Scene 1 · Beginner

A kacsa a fészkén várakozik

A duck waiting on her nest

English translation

It was a lovely summer in the countryside. Yellow grain grew in the fields, and large forests surrounded the meadows. An old farmhouse stood beside a river. Huge green leaves grew between the house and the water. Even a small child could fit under the largest ones.

English translation

Here, under the leaves, a duck sat on her nest. She was waiting for her ducklings to hatch. She was already very tired of waiting. Hardly anyone came to visit her because the other ducks preferred to swim in the river.
