Un avvertimento al fiume
A warning at the river
English translation
Moses and Aaron appeared before Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, on behalf of the Israelites. But the king refused to let the people go.
Italian
Dio disse a Mosè:
English translation
God said to Moses:
“The Pharaoh is stubborn. Tomorrow he will go to the river. Wait for him on the bank, and take with you the staff that had turned into a snake. Tell him that the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has sent you with this message: ‘Let my people go, so that they may serve me in the wilderness.’”
English translation
“‘So far you have not listened to me, but now you will know that I am the Lord. I will strike the river water with the staff, and the water will turn to blood. The fish will die, and such a terrible smell will rise from the river that the Egyptians will be disgusted by drinking its water.’”
English translation
God also told Moses to say to Aaron:
“Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt: the rivers, canals, pools, and ponds. All the water will turn to blood, even the water kept in wooden and stone containers.”
