Scene 1 · Intermediate

Un avertisment la râu

A warning at the river

English translation

Moses and Aaron represented the Israelites before Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. But he stubbornly refused to let the people go.

English translation

God told Moses to meet Pharaoh by the river the next morning, when Pharaoh would come out to the water. Moses was to take the staff that had turned into a snake and deliver a warning: “The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to ask you to let his people go so they can worship him in the wilderness.”

English translation

“You have not listened until now. God says, ‘You will know who I am when I strike the river’s waters with the staff and they turn to blood. The fish will die, the river will stink, and the Egyptians will be disgusted by drinking from it.’”

English translation

Then God told Moses to tell Aaron to stretch out his hand with the staff over the waters of Egypt: the rivers, streams, pools, and ponds. They would all turn to blood. There would be blood throughout the whole country, even in wooden and stone containers.
