Scene 1 · Intermediate
Men farao nektet å la folket dra.
Moses and Aaron pleaded the Israelites’ case before Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. But Pharaoh refused to let the people go.
“Tomorrow morning Pharaoh will go down to the river,” God told Moses. “Meet him on the bank, and take the staff that turned into a snake. Tell him that the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has sent you. I have asked him to let my people go so they can serve me in the wilderness, but so far he hasn’t listened.”
God told Moses to warn Pharaoh what would happen. That way Pharaoh would understand who the Lord was. When the staff struck the water, it would turn to blood. The fish would die, the river would stink, and the Egyptians would be unable to bring themselves to drink the water.
God also told Moses to tell Aaron to hold his staff out over all the water in Egypt, from rivers and streams to ponds. There would be blood throughout the land, even in wooden and stone vessels.
