Snehvide bliver født

Snow-white is born

English translation

One winter day, a queen sat sewing by a window with a black wooden frame. Outside, snow was falling. The queen pricked her finger with the needle, and three drops of blood fell onto the snow.

English translation

She saw the red blood on the white snow and wished for a child with skin as white as snow, cheeks as red as blood, and hair as black as the wood of the window frame.

Danish

Derfor fik pigen navnet Snehvide. Dronningen døde, efter at Snehvide var blevet født.

English translation

Soon afterward, the queen gave birth to a daughter who looked just as she had wished. That was why the girl was named Snow White. The queen died after Snow White was born.
