Pewnego zimowego dnia królowa siedziała przy oknie i szyła. Na dworze padał śnieg, a okno miało ramę z czarnego drewna. Królowa ukłuła się igłą w palec i trzy krople krwi spadły na śnieg. Czerwony kolor pięknie wyglądał na białym śniegu.
English translation
One winter’s day, a queen sat by a window and sewed. Outside, snow was falling, and the window had a black wooden frame. The queen pricked her finger with a needle, and three drops of blood fell onto the snow. The red looked beautiful against the white snow.

„Chciałabym mieć dziecko o skórze białej jak śnieg, policzkach czerwonych jak krew i włosach czarnych jak ta rama” – pomyślała.
English translation
“I wish I had a child with skin as white as snow, cheeks as red as blood, and hair as black as this frame,” she thought.

Wkrótce urodziła córkę, która właśnie tak wyglądała. Nazwano ją Śnieżką. Niestety, kiedy dziewczynka przyszła na świat, jej matka umarła.
English translation
Soon she gave birth to a daughter who looked just like that. They named her Snow White. Sadly, when the girl was born, her mother died.
