Nasce Biancaneve

Snow-white is born

English translation

It is winter, and snow is falling outside. A queen is sewing beside a window with a black wooden frame. As she looks outside, she pricks her finger with the needle. Three drops of blood fall onto the white snow.

English translation

The queen thinks those colors are beautiful. She wishes for a child with skin as white as snow, cheeks as red as blood, and hair as black as the window’s wood.

English translation

Soon afterward, a girl is born with exactly those colors. That is why they call her Snow White. But the queen dies when the girl is born.
