Em um dia de inverno, uma rainha costurava perto de uma janela de madeira preta. Ela olhava a neve quando furou o dedo com a agulha. Três gotas de sangue caíram na neve branca.
On a winter day, a queen was sewing beside a black wooden window. She was looking at the snow when she pricked her finger with the needle. Three drops of blood fell onto the white snow.
A rainha achou aquela mistura de cores muito bonita e desejou ter uma criança com a pele branca como a neve, as bochechas vermelhas como o sangue e os cabelos pretos como a madeira da janela.
The queen thought the colors looked very beautiful together and wished for a child with skin as white as snow, cheeks as red as blood, and hair as black as the wood of the window.
Pouco depois, nasceu sua filha. A menina tinha exatamente aquelas cores, por isso recebeu o nome de Branca de Neve. Mas a rainha morreu quando a filha nasceu.
Not long afterward, her daughter was born. The girl had exactly those colors, so she was named Snow White. But the queen died when her daughter was born.
