Mitt i vintern satt en drottning vid fönstret och sydde. Utanför föll snön. Drottningen stack sig i fingret med nålen, och tre droppar blod föll på den vita snön.
In the middle of winter, a queen sat sewing by the window. Snow was falling outside. The queen pricked her finger with the needle, and three drops of blood fell on the white snow.
”Jag önskar mig ett barn med hud vit som snö, kinder röda som blod och hår svart som träet runt fönstret”, tänkte hon.
“I wish for a child with skin as white as snow, cheeks as red as blood, and hair as black as the wood around the window,” she thought.
Kort därefter fick drottningen en dotter som såg ut precis som hon hade önskat. Flickan fick namnet Snövit. Drottningen dog när Snövit föddes.
Soon afterward, the queen had a daughter who looked just the way the queen had wished. The girl was named Snow White. The queen died when Snow White was born.
