Scene 1 · Beginner
Snow-white is born
English translation
Once upon a time, a queen sat sewing by a window. It was winter, and snow was falling outside. The wood around the window was black. As the queen looked outside, she pricked her finger with the needle. Three drops of blood fell onto the snow.
English translation
The red looked very beautiful against the white snow. The queen wished for a child with skin as white as snow, cheeks as red as blood, and hair as black as the wood around the window.
English translation
A little while later, her daughter was born. She had exactly those colors, and they named her Snow White. But when the child was born, her mother died.
