Snow-white is born
English translation
It was the middle of winter. Outside the window, snowflakes like white feathers were falling slowly. The queen sat sewing by a window with a frame of black ebony. As she gazed at the snow, she pricked her finger with her needle. Three drops of blood fell onto the snow, and the red looked especially beautiful to her against the white.
English translation
“If only I had a child with skin as white as snow, cheeks as red as blood, and hair as black as this frame,” she thought.

English translation
Soon the queen had a daughter. Her skin was as white as snow, her cheeks as red as blood, and her hair as black as ebony. So the girl was named Snow White. But after she was born, the queen died.
