English translation
When Elizabeth was in her sixth month of pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee. A young woman named Mary lived there. She was a virgin and was engaged to Joseph, a descendant of David, meaning she was going to marry him. The angel came in and said to her:
“Rejoice! God has shown you great favor. The Lord is with you. You are blessed among women!”

“Do not be afraid, Mary,” the angel continued. “God has shown you favor. You will become pregnant and give birth to a son. Name him Jesus. He will be great, and he will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. He will reign over the descendants of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will have no end.”
